The mission of the Franciscan Center is to provide assistance and supportive outreach to persons who are economically disadvantaged in an effort to assist them in realizing their self-worth and dignity as people of God. If you have fallen on hard times and need assistance, please contact the Franciscan Center through our website and fill out the Email Form. Somebody will reach out to you shortly.

Attire 4 Hire
By appointment only.
For men in need of professional attire for a job interview, graduation or other formal occasion. Technical Resource Center
Monday-Friday, 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
14 computers are available for public use for job searches, resume building, emailing, etc. Before noon, TRC is only accessible for job-related tasks. TRC also offers various classes throughout the year on basic computer skills, budgeting, and resume building. The Center also offers GED classes in the spring and fall semesters, in partnership with the South Baltimore Learning Center. For ALL other services, persons must interview with a social worker in the Responsive Services Department on the second floor of the Franciscan Center. The Responsive Services Department is open Monday-Thursday between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Appointments and walk-ins are welcomed.

Emergency Pantryproduce drop
Monday-Thursday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
One bag of groceries feeds a family of three for three days and 25 bags are given out per day (on a first come, first served basis). A person can receive this food once a month. DSS Emergency Food Vouchers can be brought from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and are available at DSS upon request.

Clothing and Toiletries
Monday-Thursday, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Open for men and children on Mondays and Tuesdays; and for women and children on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Amount of clothing and toiletries per visit varies depending on our supply. A person can get clothing every two weeks. If you have met with a social worker at the Franciscan Center in the past and have received clothing, you do not need to meet with him or her again for this service.

MD Birth Certificates
Monday-Thursday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. (Depending on available funds).
Please bring any form of identification (it does not need to be a photo ID). Acceptable ID’s include a MTA ID, BGE or phone bill, medical card or record, lease, pay stub or social security card. This is a one time only service.

Maryland IDs
Monday-Thursday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. (Depending on available funds).
Please bring your original birth certificate, social security card and two pieces of official mail with your current address. This is a one time only service.

Utility Assistance
Mondays and Thursdays only
Appointments only. To make an appointment, please fill out Email Form and send your first and last name, phone number and BGE Account Number. 

Eviction Prevention
Monday-Thursday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Please bring the following documents with you: court document citing eviction, proof of address, and proof of income, which  must be higher than your rent. Franciscan Center will pay last $200. Once you receive assistance, you must be up to date with your rent. This is a once in a lifetime service.

Health Screenings provided by Baltimore City Health Department
Every Thursday at 10 a.m.
HIV/AIDs testing and oral cancer screenings.

Prescription Assistance
Monday-Thursday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. (Depending on available funds).
Assistance up to $100. Persons may receive assistance every 90 days. Rx. must be filled at Safeway Pharmacy at 2401 N. Charles Street in Baltimore.

Dental
Monday-Thursday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. (Depending on available funds).
Extractions only.

Transportation Tokens 
Monday-Thursday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Depending on available funds.
Must show proof of appointment, such as a medical or business appointment. We also help with bus passes for people with disabilities.

Secure Mail Service
Monday-Thursday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Anyone in need of a secure location to collect his or her mail may use the Franciscan Center’s address. Pick up is at the Reception Desk on the second floor of the Franciscan Center. Some form of ID is needed. The Franciscan Center’s address cannot be used as a business mailing address.

Mark Wong, Responsive ServicesCounseling Services

This service assists clients in making life changes that will lead them out of crisis and into a better future.

Case Management Services

Phone Communication
Monday-Thursday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Free phone calls can be made for the following circumstances: following up on a job opportunity, making a doctor’s appointment, finding a place to live, and other business matters.

Mary Lacy Fetting Children’s Library
Monday-Thursday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The Children’s Library is a space for children to read books, draw, or play games. All books are free to take home and do not need to be returned. The Franciscan Center promotes literacy and hopes that families will create their own libraries at home.

The social workers and interviewers who work with our clients have a wealth of information about the services that are available throughout the city. If we are unable to meet your need at the Franciscan Center, we will do our best to find another organization that can.
