Empowerment Services

Clothing and Toiletry Programclothing room
The Center collects new and slightly-used clothing from the community, which is distributed free to income-eligible guests. In our 2016 fiscal year, the Center distributed 40,444 articles of seasonally appropriate clothing to men, women and children who are among our most vulnerable neighbors. The Center also provides essential personal care items such as toothpaste, soap and shampoo, which promotes good hygiene and healthy living.

Attire 4 Hire
The Center is home to Attire 4 Hire, which provides outfits men head-to-toe in free professional clothing that is theirs to keep for job interviews, graduations and other important life events. Each guest will receive a suit, two shirts, two ties and a pair of shoes. We also have a barber who volunteers his time on Wednesday and Friday mornings from 10:00 a.m to 12:00 p.m. to give free haircuts.

Technical Resource Center
Individuals who are entered in a community job training program can access free Internet, develop computer skills, gain basic financial knowledge, and receive help with resume building and applying for jobs and benefits. The TRC supplements adult literacy, job training, and job placement offered by other local organizations. This one-on-one attention and support are helping an average of 5-7 people a month find jobs. We partner with the South Baltimore Learning Center to offer GED classes in the spring and fall.
